MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY

BASRaT Membership Categories and Requirements:

  • Graduate
  • Non-practising Graduate
  • Associate
  • Affiliate
  • Student
  • How do I become a member?
    Membership can be obtained by filling out the application form and sending it to the BASRaT office with correct payment (cheques made payable to 'BASRaT') and all of the relevant documentation. There are two joining windows in which membership can be gained and renewed. These dates are from January 1st - January 31st and from June 16th to August 31st each year.
    Any application outside of these dates will not be accepted.
    N.B. 6 month membership is only available between June 16th and August 31st
    of each year.

    Please note - once payment has been processed we are unable to refund monies due to the fact that insurance and journal costs are non refundable annual contracts. If membership has lapsed then a rejoining fee of £70 is applicable to cover adminstration costs. Proof of on going CPD will also be required.

    TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

    Graduate Member
    This membership category is open to the following:
    Those who have completed a BASRaT-approved undergraduate programme and who fulfil the following requirements in order to maintain current membership i.e.

  • hold a current 1 - day HSE approved First Aid qualification
  • have achieved ongoing BASRaT CPD requirements

    Individuals who have graduated from other programmes may be eligible for membership if it can be ascertained that their studies have provided adequate and equivalent levels of study to Sport Rehabilitator Role Delineation, and that they have, where appropriate, maintained adequate levels of CPD within their ongoing professional practice since graduation. (These requirements are documented elsewhere).

    • Administrative support and advice on professional issues, including CPD
    • National and International representation of your profession at events and in discussions and meetings with other groups for the promotion and development of Sport Rehabilitation
    • Most importantly - Voting rights. You have a say in how BASRaT is run and organised. Please use this to make the most from your membership.
    • Access to BASRaT products
    All graduate members are obliged to adhere to the BASRaT Rules of Professional Conduct and are entitled to use the letters 'GSR' in their titles (Graduate Sport Rehabilitator). It should be noted that members should not use the letters 'BASRaT' as part of their title.

    Non-practising Graduate
    This membership category is open to the following:
    Individuals who have been full, practising members of BASRaT who wish to retire, take a career break or for any other reason no longer wish to practise as a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator.
    This is advised for members who ceased to practise in order to provide a run-off cover for their previous work.

      Additional benefits include:
    • Professional Malpractice Insurance
    • Access to membership section on web-site (including course listings, job advertisements, Newsletter and professional information)
    • Reduced entry fee for Annual AGM and Symposium
    • Administrative support and advice on professional issues, including CPD
    • Non-practising members can for an additional fee gain on-line access to Sport-Ex Journals (Sport Ex Dynamic and Sport Ex Medicine)

    Associate Member
    This membership category is open to the following:
    Graduates of programmes not approved by BASRaT but who are working in fields related to Sport Rehabilitation e.g. Physiotherapy, Sport Science, Sports Medicine.
    This category excludes professional liability insurance cover and associate members are not eligible to vote.

      Benefits of Associate Membership include:
    • Access to membership section on web-site (including course listings, job advertisements, Newsletter and professional information)
    • Free online access to Sport Ex Dynamics
    • Reduced entry fee for Annual AGM and Symposium
    • Access to BASRaT products
    Associate members are not obliged to adhere to the BASRaT Rules of Professional Conduct but are expected to observe them.

    This category does not include Malpractice and Public Liability Insurance

    Affiliate Members
    This membership category is open to the following:
    Individuals who have an interest in Sport Rehabilitation who do not possess a degree level qualification in this field, and do not qualify as an associate or student member.
    Affiliate members are not eligible to vote.

      Benefits of Affiliate Membership include:
    • Access to membership section on web-site (including course listings, job advertisements, Newsletter and professional information)
    • Reduced entry fee for Annual AGM and Symposium
    • Free online access to Sport Ex Dynamics
    This category does not include Malpractice and Public Liability Insurance

    Student Member
    This membership category is open to the following:
    Students studying currently full and part-time on undergraduate or postgraduate programmes in Sport Rehabilitation and related fields.
      Benefits of Student Membership include:

    • Reduced entry fee for Annual AGM and Symposium

    This category does not include Malpractice and Public
