BASRaT and Sport Rehab

BASRaT is the UK regulator and professional association for Sport Rehabilitators.

BASRaT champions and regulates Sport Rehabilitators, our register of practitioners is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority; the UK's top oversight body for medicine and healthcare.

BASRaT’s primary objectives are to protect the public and enhance patient care through high quality education programmes, regulatory frameworks and professional development. BASRaT does this by accrediting University programmes, setting registration standards, providing guidance and education and ensuring FtP processes are transparent, fair and proportionate.

Sport Rehabilitators are Registered healthcare professionals specialising in MSK assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

Working in varied settings including the NHS, MOD, Private Practice and Sport, practitioners have been educated with a strong focus on exercise rehabilitation for varied patient populations, including those with long term conditions.

Registrant Eligibility Requirements

What sets us apart? To be eligible for Registration our Practitioners must:

  • Have completed a BASRaT accredited degree.

  • Pass the BASRaT Registration Exam - Exam conditioned, 100 question paper covering degree course content.

  • Gain an approved Pre-Hospital Trauma Care Qualification

  • Complete 400 hours of supervised clinical placements

  • Be signed off as Fit to Practise by their academic institution

  • Meet the BASRaT Standards of Ethical Conduct and Behaviour

Education and Training

BASRaT accredits undergraduate and postgraduate education at Universities around the UK. Accreditation is designed to ensure a high standard of education that prepares graduates to work as registered Sport Rehabilitators. As MSK Clinicians, Sport Rehabilitators work within:

NHS Band 7

BASRaT Registrants work with NHS patients as MSK Clinicians to Band 7 and within NHS funded service providers.

Professional Sport

Working alongside Olympic Athletes, Sport Rehabbers are pitch side at major sporting matches including football, basketball and rugby and performing arts.

Clinical Practice

All patient populations are treated within private clinics, occupational health settings and organisations including the House of Commons.
